India’s aspiration to emerge as a globally competitive manufacturing powerhouse under the Viksit Bharat vision demands strong alignment between national policies and international quality and regulatory frameworks. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in India’s manufacturing growth, employment generation, and innovation.
Strengthening their capacity to comply with standards and Quality Control Orders (QCOs) is critical for improving product quality, enhancing market access, and building long-term competitiveness.
Taking this opportunity, PHDCCI is organizing a conference on “The Quality Mandate in Manufacturing: Architecture for a ViksitBharat” on Tuesday, 20th January, 2026 from 10:00 am to deliberate on the critical role of quality in strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem. The conference will include a focused session on “The Policy & Global Vision - Harmonizing India with the World,
Standards & QCOs as a Strategic Lever for the Viksit Bharat Manufacturing Agenda”, bringing together policymakers, industry stakeholders, standards bodies, and experts to discuss alignment with global best practices, effective implementation of standards, and the role of Quality Control Orders in enhancing competitiveness and trust in Indian manufacturing.
To be informed that Smt. Nidhi Khare, IAS, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, and Sanjay Garg, IAS, Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), have confirmed their participation and it is also anticipated that an Additional Secretary from the Department of Consumer Affairs will join the conference.
